Born in Boulder, Colorado, Robert Rippberger is a Los Angeles-based director-producer. His passion for filmmaking and story-telling has led him to making numerous feature films, along with dozens of commercials, short films, and music videos that have been released theatrically reaching millions of viewers worldwide. Ahead of any formal filmmaking training or experience, at age 16, Robert made his debut feature film 'The Hoodwink'. The film premiered to sellout audiences, making its money back on opening night. Understanding the need to hone his craft, Robert studied under directing teacher Judith Weston, at UCLA Film School in Los Angeles. During his educational years, he also received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from UC, Berkeley where he was awarded the prestigious Eisner Prize, and in 2012 he was the recipient of the Dan Eldon Activist Award. In 2006, Robert formed the production company Aletheia Films, a philosophy term used to describe 'a disclosing of truth', with a view to make entertaining and impactful films for mass audiences. The company, which currently produces feature films, documentaries, commercials, music videos, concerts, and events, has produced for Trumbull Studios, The NY Times, The Jane Goodall Institute, Spyder Active Sports, Warren Miller, NetApp, The Grand Prix Denver, Beck-Tech Corp., The Adam Radly Foundation, and Hey Guy Media. Aside from directing and producing, Robert has a flair for writing. In 2014, Robert published a novel called 'Escape To Anywhere Else', with a foreword by Mariel Hemingway. During that same year, he was acting president of I Imagine, a technology and media organization that seeks to have a maximum positive impact in the world. The organization runs I Imagine talks and hosts the annual I Imagine Film Festival and conference in New York, where Robert remains the Festival Director with its founder Adam Radly. In 2016, Robert directed, as well as co-wrote and produced, the critically acclaimed documentary '7 Days in Syria'. The film, which was championed by Angelina Jolie, has been making an impact at the House of Lords in London, to senior members of the United Nations, and now has its home on Hulu. With the goal to capture the essence of characters and their stories in a thoughtful and entertaining way, Robert went on to executive produced the feature film, 'Alive & Kicking'. The wild and fun swing dancing film was sold to Magnolia Films, for a theatrical release in over 50 cities, after its debut at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, where it received a Grand Jury nomination. The film is currently available on Netflix. Robert is in development of seven film projects ranging from stop-motion family animation to horror-thrillers. He is the co-founder and acting editor of the magazine, Cinema of Change, and is a contributing writer at The Huffington Post.
